Community Involvement at First Coast Criminal Defense

We built our practice in the same community where our attorney, Alex King, grew up, went to school, and chose to raise his family. Our work in the courtroom is only one part of that story. We stay active in local organizations, support access to justice, and maintain strong relationships within the legal community because this is our home.

Rooted in Jacksonville’s Legal and Neighborhood Community

Alex King grew up in Jacksonville, attended Stanton College Preparatory School, and later earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. Today, he lives in the same neighborhood where he was raised and serves clients across Duval County, North Florida, and the First Coast. Many of the judges and prosecutors he appears before are people he has known since childhood or early in his career.

Those long-standing connections create a close-knit legal community where people look out for one another and expect each other to do the right thing. Our involvement in that community reflects who we are as a firm and how seriously we take our role here.

Long-Term Service with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid

One of the clearest examples of our community commitment is Alex King’s work with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA). As of now, he is the longest-serving member of JALA and a past president of the organization. JALA serves the same counties that our firm serves, which allows our community work and our day-to-day practice to support the same people and neighborhoods.

Over the years, our firm has sponsored, and continues to sponsor, events for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. These events help raise awareness and support for legal services for people who do not have the resources to hire a lawyer. By staying involved in this way, we help sustain programs that open doors to the justice system for those who might otherwise have to face it alone.

Supporting Access to Justice

Our involvement with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid centers on a simple idea: everyone should have a fair chance to understand and protect their rights. Through JALA, we support efforts that offer legal help to people who cannot afford traditional representation. That work aligns with our daily focus in criminal defense, where constitutional rights and individual freedom are at stake.

We also work closely with the courts and other legal partners through JALA-related efforts. Together, we look for ways to make legal processes more accessible and to connect people with the guidance they need to move forward. This ongoing collaboration strengthens the local justice system and reflects our belief that a strong community requires fair access to the law.
